Brett Cook has named round 13 team for this week.

We caught up with Brett Cook and asked about the last week’s loss to the Wests Tigers and Saturday’s upcoming game against Mounties at Aubrey Keech Reserve…

What are your thoughts about the game last weekend?

It was just a game where nothing was going our way. We didn’t play good enough for a start but a few decisions & things went against us early in the game. I think it was the 30minute mark when they scored their second try to go to 12 nil and then they just had every set between then until half time and they scored 3 more tries. 30 nil at half time and we were looking down the barrel of a bad afternoon and it continued that way in the second half. It was just one of those days for us really.

Who were your standouts from last week?

I thought our best 3 players were Ryan Matterson, Kenny Edwards and Fabian Goodall.

Who was the ‘Players Player’?

Kenny Edwards

Who was the Player of the Week selected by the Coaching Staff (Coaches Award)?

Kenny Edwards

This weekend we’re up against Mounties out at Hinchinbrook… So where do you think we’ll need to improve for this weekend’s game to come away with the win?

We need to just go back to over the last month before last weekend, we were playing with some really good shape through the middle of the field and that’s our strength at the moment with the forward pack we’ve got. We need to just go back to everyone doing their job in the middle of the field not leaving it up to someone else.

Do you think the bye hurt us, having the weekend off?

No, I don’t think so. If we’d won on the weekend you could say that having the weekend off refreshed us. It didn’t really matter if we’d played on the weekend before, we just didn’t turn up last week

Who do you think are the danger players that we’ll need to watch out for?

They’ve got a couple of good outside backs that are dangerous and have scored plenty of points, although 1 or 2 of them may be playing 1st Grade this weekend. They’ve also got Ryan Carr in the halves and he gets them around the field pretty well, he’s got good direction. They’ve also got a strong forward pack, they’ve been good all year and I don’t think they’ll be any different this week, they’ll be hard to contain but that’s also our strength too so I think it will be a good battle

Who will you look too for goal kicking duties now that Luke Kelly has been called up to 1st Grade?

Not Fui although he’s put his hand up [smile]. We’ve got a couple of the guys there, Liam Foran and Api Pewhairangi who can kick.

There are no injuries to report on.
