The Round 3 team to play for the Wentworthville Magpies in NSW Cup has been announced by coach Brett Cook.

We caught up with Brett Cook and asked about last weekend’s win and about this weekend’s game against the Manly Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval…

What are your thoughts about last week’s match?

Yeah, very happy to get the win. Obviously Newtown have a bogie side for us over the years so it’s good to beat them but also for the team to start the season with 2 wins.

Who was your stand out from last week?

I think Taniela Lasalo carried on from his good form in round 1 and same with Lorenzo Ma’Afu.  They were the 2 that really impressed me. Young Sam Gorman that came into the side I thought he had a good game for his first game at that level.

I noticed that Sam Gorman is named in the starting side this week.

Yeah. Sam wasn’t named but ended up starting last week and he did enough to keep his position this week. He worked well with Chris Sandow.

You’ve named Jake Butler-Fleming to start in the Centres to cover an injured Ryan Morgan.

Ryan looks like he’ll be out for only a week which is good, so yeah so Jake who had a bit of a mixed game in round 1 showed some good signs as well so he gets another opportunity.

He scored a try for Massey in their OAMPS trial game on Sunday…

Yeah he had a good game, he did well in the Massey Cup which is all you can ask when blokes go back.

So Justin Hunt is back this week in the 9…

Yes he’s been named there but that’s undecided yet, he’s been named there but he still has to prove his fitness.

And Liam Foran onto the bench?

More than likely Liam will start.

So where do you think we’ll need to concentrate for this weekend’s game against the Sea Eagles?

They haven’t started well this season with 2 losses but I don’t think we can be complacent. We need to look after how we play and continue on from our first 2 games.
