Brett Cook has named round 18 team for this week.

We caught up with Brett Cook and asked about the 56 – 16 win over the North Sydney Bears, after playing the last 9 minutes or so with only 12 players due to injury,  and this Saturday’s upcoming game against the New Zealand Warriors over at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland …

What are your thoughts about the game last weekend’s win?

Real happy! It was a game we were expected to win but I’m just happy that it was our most complete game for the year. There was a lot of good with our attack and also our defence. The amount of ball we had and the amount of sets we completed, we should have won the game and it was just pleasing that we won it like we did, by a lot of points

Who were your standouts from last week?

There were a few of them… Taniela Lasalo was really good. Tepai Moeroa, the young bloke from the 20’s that played his first game for us, he was really good. Bureta Faraimo, as usual on the wing, was strong for us scoring a couple of tries. Api Pewhairangi playing in the halves had a real good game.

Who was the ‘Players Player’?

Bureta Faraimo

Who was the Player of the Week selected by the Coaching Staff (Coaches Award)?

Taniela Lasalo

This weekend we’re up against the New Zealand Warriors over in Auckland … So where do you think we’ll need to concentrate for this weekend’s game to come away with the win?

We really need to play like we did last weekend and just continually throw shape at them in attack because I think they’re a side that likes things going their way and if you continually throw good shape at them in attack and everyone doing their job then I don’t think they can defend that for the whole match

Who do you think are the danger players that we’ll need to watch out for?

They’re all similar players. They’re all good with the footy, they’re skilful, and they’re big. They’ve got a big forwards pack, they’ll get offloads and they’ll play off the back of that. Carlos Tuimavave, their Five-Eighth, has had a good year up to date. He’s an elusive type of player and if you don’t present in a straight line in front of them, then he can make you pay

Are there any injuries to report on?

Taniela Lasalo – He’ll be missing this week with a peck injury and sees a specialist on Monday

Daniel Alvaro – As well got a bit concussed but he’s alright and cleared to play

Lorenzo Ma’Afu – He was off after 20 minutes with a bad cork but he should be right to play

Api Pewhairangi – He hurt his shoulder and was also a bit concussed but he is also cleared to play

Both Ben Smith & Taunaola Kei have also recovered and are right to play
