Brett Cook has named round 17 team for this week.

We caught up with Brett Cook and asked about the loss to the Newcastle Knights and this Sunday’s upcoming home game against the North Sydney Bears at Ringrose Park…

What are your thoughts about the game last weekend?

I don’t think we got off the bus. We started our first set pretty ordinary, we kicked out on the full. They got a penalty on the last tackle and then try right at the start of the game. I just don’t think we got off of the bus.  We handed Newcastle all of their points, every try came off an error and then a penalty.

We didn’t make them work for anything, we didn’t build any pressure, we dropped the ball coming off of our own line and even up the other end when we were attacking their line we just let them off the hook. It just wasn’t our day and hopefully we can improve on it.

Who were your standouts from last week?

I thought Danny Howard and Lorenzo Ma’Afu were really good; they probably got most of the coaches’ votes. I think Bureta Faraimo got Players Player just it was pretty evenly spread. There was only a handful of guys I thought that could have walked off knowing that they contributed to the game for us.

Who was the Player of the Week selected by the Coaching Staff (Coaches Award)?

Ben Smith

This weekend we’re up against the Bears at Home… So where do you think we’ll need to concentrate for this weekend’s game to come away with the win?

We just have to complete our sets like every week. I get sick of saying it to them every week but it’s simple; you hold the ball and you get the opportunity to score points. Obviously we want to keep every week improving our defence. The defence except for a couple of lapses wasn’t all that bad we just handed them field position and then the points I thought. I still reckon we are improving with our defence so we just need to take that to another level this again week and complete our sets with the ball

Who do you think are the danger players that we’ll need to watch out for?

Luke Keary is named so if he plays he will be one of their main dangers. A lot of their other guys are younger and inexperienced that we don’t know too much about but their always pretty strong in the Forwards and try to play up through the middle and then their halves play off the back of that. We just need to worry about ourselves probably more and treat all of their players as danger players

Are there any injuries to report on?

Joseph Ualesi will be out for a few weeks, he hurt his knee in last week’s game.

Kelepi Tanginoa will be out for 4-6 weeks.  He also hurt his knee in last week’s game.

Losing them both in the first half also didn’t help us either
